Prairie Playhouse is pleased to present the classic hit musical The Sound of Music.
You will recognize and enjoy several hit songs including "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "Do-Re-Mi", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", "The Lonely Goatherd", and the title song, "The Sound of Music".
Maria and the Von Trapp family will warm your heart as former naval officer's, and widower, heart is also warmed to a young studying nun sent to be the family's new governess.
Maria was always getting into trouble at the Austrian convent, breaking rules such as singing in the hallways and gardens. Her heart will discover what it truly desires as she is sent to the Von Trapp family.
Set in Nazi Germany history, the family faces several challenges when Austria is annexed into the Third Reich, and the Von Trapps decide they must leave Austria.
